Travertine is a porous stone, full of tiny hollows the light finds its way through. Switched on, the shade turns from cool grey stone to a warm mineral glow, and the pattern it throws is the stone’s own veining. Some pieces even carry faint fossil marks. Yours won’t be identical to this photograph, and that is exactly the point.

Composite shades photograph well and disappoint in the hand. This one is cut from real travertine, visibly and texturally, under a turned walnut-finish sphere. At 15 cm across it’s deliberately intimate, made to hang low over a bedside, a worktop or an island. A piece of jewellery for the room, lovely on its own and lovelier in a pair.
Fitted in an afternoon
Hangs where your old light did.
It replaces an existing ceiling point, so most people fit it themselves. The ceiling rose covers the fitting and the flex trims to length, up to 180 cm. It has a real weight to it, the honest heft of stone, and hangs from a standard ceiling point like any pendant. Adding a light where there is no point already is the one job worth an electrician.

It looks small. How big is it, really?
It’s deliberately intimate: a 15 cm shade made to hang low and close over a bedside, a worktop or an island. Think of it as jewellery for the room, lovely on its own and lovelier in a pair. The dimensions drawing shows it to scale before you buy.
Will mine look like the photos?
The shade is real travertine, so tone and veining vary naturally from piece to piece, and some carry faint fossil marks. Yours won’t be identical to the photograph, and that is the point of a natural stone.
Is the stone real, or a composite?
Real. The shade is cut from natural travertine, visibly and texturally, under a turned walnut-finish sphere. From a foot away you can tell it is stone and not a moulded lookalike.
Is it heavy? Will it hold on the ceiling?
It has the honest weight of stone and hangs from a standard ceiling point, the same as any pendant. If you’re ever unsure about an older fitting, an electrician can check the ceiling point in minutes.
Which bulb does it take?
It takes one small bulb, and we’d fit a warm white to bring out the mineral glow. Travertine is porous, so lit from within the stone warms from cool grey to a soft amber.
Do I need an electrician to fit it?
It hangs from your existing ceiling point: the rose covers the fitting and the flex trims to length, so most people fit it themselves. Adding a pendant where there is no point already is a job for an electrician.
Can I hang a pair?
Beautifully. Two over an island, or one either side of a bed. Because each stone is unique, a pair carries a gentle natural variation rather than looking machine-matched.
How do I keep it looking good?
A soft dry or slightly damp cloth is all it needs. Avoid abrasive cleaners and harsh chemicals, which can mark natural stone.
