LUNARIA is an independent lighting brand, London-inspired and curated for British homes. We started with the rooms that never quite get finished: the hallway, the landing, the corner by the door you pass every day and keep meaning to sort.
Our mission
To make the rooms a British home overlooks feel considered, with decorative lighting that looks like it cost more than it did, and described honestly.
What we believe
That a well-chosen range beats an endless catalogue. So we curate a considered edit, pendants, ceiling lights, wall lights and the occasional chandelier, in natural stone, opal glass and aged brass, and each piece earns its place by how it looks once the light is on.
Our vision
We want the hallway, the landing and the entrance of a British home lit with the same care as the living room. We would rather grow the edit slowly, piece by piece, than chase everything at once. And we want to be judged on the honesty of a description as much as on the beauty of the piece it describes. That is the brand we are building, one considered room at a time.
What makes us different
We describe every light as carefully and honestly as we can: the real material, the real size in centimetres, and the fitting it takes. If something isn’t included, we say so before you buy, not after.
And there’s a real person on the other end of it, before you order, if you’re unsure about sizing or your ceiling, and after, if anything needs putting right. We usually reply within one working day, and we’d sooner talk you out of the wrong light than sell you one.
The person behind LUNARIA
LUNARIA is founded and run by Bocar Diawara, with a clear point of view: a focused range, honest descriptions, and a real person on the other end of your email.
Bocar runs the brand on his own, as an independent business registered in France, built for British homes. Every piece in the edit is one he chose himself, and that is why the edit stays short: a range this considered only works when one person can stand behind every light in it.
It also explains the writing. When the same person chooses a light, lists it and answers the email about it, there’s nowhere for an exaggeration to hide. So each description is written the way he would want to read one: plain about what a piece is, and just as plain about what it isn’t.
And when you write to us, it’s Bocar who replies: the same person who chose the light you’re asking about.
A note from the founder
I never had good lighting at home. Not bad lighting, exactly. Just the fitting that came with the flat, left where it was because changing it never made it to the top of the list.
What changed it was travelling. You walk into a room you have never seen before, something about it is right, and it takes a moment to work out that it is the light. Not the furniture. Not the paint. The light.
I came home and looked at my own hallway properly for the first time.
LUNARIA started there. I choose every piece myself, which is why the range is short. I am one person, and I would rather stand behind twenty lights than list two thousand.
Wall lights are the ones I keep coming back to. A ceiling light lights a room. A wall light gives it character.
